Smart Works is governed by our Board of Trustees, who bring with them a wealth and depth of experience across a diverse range of industries.

We’re grateful for all the hard work and dedication of the members of our board. The work we do would not be possible without their guidance.

Honorary President

Maggie Darling
Maggie Darling is the Honorary President of Smart Works Scotland. She is a founding Trustee of Smart Works Charity, set up ten years ago with one small office in London. She has been delighted to be part of our charity’s expansion to support more women around the UK.

Chair of the Board

Yvonne Brady
Yvonne is a leading Scottish lawyer with over 35 years’ experience across top national and international law firms. For more than 20 years, she led high-performing teams advising on complex restructuring, insolvency, and recovery matters across sectors including energy, manufacturing, education, hospitality, and care. Known for her direct yet collaborative style, she excels at navigating regulated industries, resolving complex issues, and delivering strategies that ensure stakeholder alignment.

Ewa Kerin
Ewa is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Certified Accountants and has held a number of senior positions within the Financial Services industry for over 25 years at JP Morgan, Credit Suisse, Willis Towers Watson and HSBC.

Bronagh Power
Bronagh Power was Head of the Business School for the Open University in Scotland and Faculty Lead for the Postgraduate Business and Management programme for the Open University throughout the UK and Continental Europe. She is a passionate believer in the transformative power of education, an experienced facilitator within leadership development contexts but most of all, an advocate of empowering women to realise their dreams and potential.
Catriona Mackie
Catriona is highly experienced international HR Director, having worked in the power, telecommunications and drinks industries. She has championed inclusion and diversity with a specific focus on increasing diversity in manufacturing and supply chain and has a passion for people development and coaching, particularly in the context of women in leadership. She has been a member of Court for one of Scotland’s universities and is inspired by the role education plays in female empowerment.
Prof Christopher Moore
Professor Christopher Moore is Principal and Chief Executive of New College Lanarkshire and is Professor in Fashion and Marketing at the University of Manchester. Christopher has held senior positions at universities in York, Glasgow and Edinburgh and was Director of the British School of Fashion at Glasgow Caledonian University’s London campus. With a PhD in Marketing, he has provided research and strategic consultancy support to a range of leading fashion and consumer goods businesses.
Fiona Buchanan
Fiona is currently a Partner and leads the Banking & Finance team at Shepherd and Wedderburn LLP, a leading UK law firm. She has over 25 years of experience as a finance lawyer, acting for banks, financial institutions, sponsors and companies in relation to their funding requirements across all sectors relevant to the Scottish economy and has held various leadership positions during that time. Fiona is also a trained mentor, her passion for mentoring prompting her to establish a mentoring programme within the work-place which has enabled her to support a number of professionals through various stages of their career development. Beyond work, Fiona is a trustee of a local scouting charity, busy mum of 3 children, loves zumba and sings in a choir.
Charlene Sweeney
Communications professional Charlene Sweeney is media relations director at leading independent UK agency BIG Partnership. A former senior journalist, she worked in both print and broadcast media before joining BIG Partnership where she delivers strategic PR campaigns for a range of corporate and consumer clients. She is also highly experienced in reputation management and media training. She will bring her PR expertise to Smart Works Scotland as it seeks to grow its services across the country and help more women gain access to the world of work.
Elaine Mackenzie
With a career spanning the international fashion industry as a designer and stylist, Elaine has since built entrepreneurial ventures across luxury fashion, lifestyle and travel, and retrained as a transformative coach running a coaching, styling and bespoke bridal service.
"The right clothing combined with coaching, compassion and dedication is transformative and can be life changing. This is what Smart Works does - it enables women to rediscover their strengths, skills, sense of self and self-belief then use this to positively move forward. I am honoured to support women maximise their full potential in this way."
Jackie Arnott-Raymond
With over 25 years' experience leading and supporting teams through periods of change, Jackie is Managing Director and Owner of Imaginary Friends, a creative and digital agency. She has led the business through a decade of growth and transition, shaping its strategic direction while building a strong and supportive culture.

In today’s increasingly challenging world, this support has never been more vital. I feel honoured and proud to be part of the team.”
Kitty Cairns
Having held a Senior Vice President position at a major US pharmaceutical company, Kitty brings extensive experience in worldwide personnel management, negotiations, team building and strategic planning to the Smart Works Scotland board. Originally from the US, she relocated to Scotland in 2020 and quickly found her way to Smart Works, initially as a coach and dresser volunteer in Glasgow before joining the board as a Trustee.
Rachel Meddowes
A freelance consultant specialising in ideas, connections, research, creative concepts, and collaborations, Rachel has built her career in the lifestyle, magazine, and interiors space. She advises on hidden Scotland and is currently Associate Editor at Piero Publishing and previously was at Harper's Bazaar.

Tina Liversidge
With a career spanning international senior marketing leadership at Alfred Dunhill, Diesel and luxury lifestyle brands, Tina brings deep expertise in strategic marketing, communications and how to build and grow organisations at scale.
"Smart Works does something truly powerful — it gives women the tools, the confidence, and the moment they need to walk into a room and claim their future. With an exciting new chapter for Smart Works Scotland, I'm fortunate to work with an extraordinary group of trustees and team members to help amplify that mission and create more opportunities for women across Scotland."
Sandra Scott
Sandra is an experienced leader with a career in both HR and Transformation – she is currently the Head of People for Bupa Insurance and previously worked in Aviva plc. She has a passion for empowering women to help them progress and co-founded the women’s network in Bupa that now has over 1000 members.
“Empowering women to achieve their potential is something I care deeply about, and I’m honoured to play a part in supporting the life-changing impact that Smart Works Scotland has by helping clients improve their chances of finding employment by providing coaching and dressing services.”
